We are proud to shine our Consultant Spotlight on Ian D.C. Newbould, PhD, a distinguished senior consultant and long-time Member of The Registry team.
With an academic journey that spans across Canada and the UK, Dr. Newbould holds a PhD in History from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His expertise in modern British history is matched by a remarkable career in higher education leadership.
Dr. Newbould has served as president at three institutions across North America and the UK: Mount Allison University (NB, Canada), North Carolina Wesleyan College, and Richmond, The American International University in London. He has also held key academic roles at the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) and taught internationally at Hokkaigakuen University in Japan and Baudartius College in the Netherlands.
A former national Chair of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, he has contributed to global education governance through his work with the International Association of Universities (UNESCO, Paris, France) and the Order of Canada selection committee.
Ian's Registry journey began as a client before transitioning into leadership roles as interim president and provost at several institutions, including the University of Mary Washington in Virginia, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. Today, he continues to serve with distinction as a Registry senior consultant and principal.
