“I wanted to share these words and attachments with you… Sometimes in life you wonder what or how you will find opportunities to share what you have learned and experienced as an academic leader. Never did I think that an organization named The Registry would provide just the opportunities I needed.

As the pandemic hit New York City, where I reside, I was days into listlessness, when I decided that I would follow through on the recommendations to apply to The Registry. As I completed the application process, I wondered what I would do, because I was not traveling during the pandemic, therefore, my placement would be on hold. Wisely, The Registry announced that all placements would be virtual.

The doors opened.

LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) in Memphis, Tennessee needed an interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Green of The Registry called and negotiated my contract with LOC. Dr. Green was reassuring and totally worked things out in my interest. During those five months, he would call for my assessment of how things were going. The Registry also sent me a plant and asked me to participate in a survey to plan their convention. These were the perfect actions of inclusiveness and kindness. Virtual warmth, professionalism, supportive words and actions, that is what the Registry gave me. Every day that I think about all I gained from my first placement; I am grateful!”
