Congratulations to Registry Member Dean Smith on his assignment as Interim Vice President for Research at Northern Arizona University.
"During my 38 years as a professor at four different institutions, I served for more than 20 years as a senior-level research administrator in one capacity or another. As I reflected on my career following retirement, I realized how fortunate I was to have had numerous mentors who taught me the trade, so to speak, ranging from handy tips to tried-and-true best practices. I found myself wanting to share, to pass on the skills that I learned after many years on the job.
The interim position as Vice President for Research offered by the Registry provides an ideal opportunity to fulfill this desire while helping the institution. In that regard, it is a win-win situation: I enjoy passing on the wisdom I have acquired throughout my career and the University benefits from experienced leadership during a period of transition."
